Allison Scheeler, a dedicated board director for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), has a diverse and impactful background. Born and raised in Miles City, Montana, Allison pursued a degree in Chemistry with a minor in Psychology from MSU-Billings. She then broadened her horizons by serving in the Peace Corps, where she worked on community health projects in Mwamba Village, Zambia. Allison’s journey continued in South Korea, where she taught English before earning a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
After spending five years in Corpus Christi, Texas, with her husband, Allison and her family returned to Montana, settling in Billings. She now works for the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, all while raising two young boys and enjoying outdoor activities.
With a strong desire to continue supporting CASA’s mission, Allison decided to join the board in September 2024 after initially volunteering as a CASA Guardian ad Litem with CASA of the Coastal Bend. In this role, she worked with six children from two families, navigating complex cases involving foster placements, sibling separations, and eventual permanent homes. Through this experience, Allison realized how critical the CASA volunteers are, providing consistent, reliable advocacy in the lives of children who need it most.
Her connection with CASA began after hearing a radio ad, which resonated deeply with her values. She recognizes the significant impact that CASA volunteers have on children’s lives, particularly in the court system, where CASA recommendations are given considerable weight by judges. For Allison, the most rewarding aspect of her CASA work is knowing that CASA is making a real and positive difference in the lives of children in her community.
