April was an important month for CASA of Yellowstone County, as we dedicate it each year to recognizing Child Abuse Prevention Month. This allows our organization to make a special push for awareness of the issues that are sadly all too common in the cases served by our Court Appointed Special Advocates. This increased awareness often translates to greater interest from individuals in the possibility of volunteering as an Advocate, as well as an influx in donations which in turn allows our organization to recruit and train more CASAs.
With April behind us, CASA of Yellowstone County now has an additional opportunity to push for greater awareness, appreciation, and financial support for the work of our Court Appointed Special Advocates.
Yellowstone Valley Gives is a 24-hour online and on-site “celebration of giving” focused on engaging the community with local nonprofit organizations. It is facilitated by the Billings Community Foundation, which, coincidentally, is also the organization that manages CASA of Yellowstone County’s endowment.
#YVGives2019 begins on Thursday, May 2nd with the Community Block Party under SkyPoint in downtown Billings. From 11AM to 8PM, representatives from 115 local nonprofit organizations will be celebrating the generosity of the community with live music, food trucks, and prizes. The goal for May 2nd and 3rd is to inspire 1,000 donors to invest $200,000 into the community through its nonprofits. You can check out the Facebook event for the Community Block Party here.
