Laurie and Steve Monson are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children. They have raised four children of their own and are proud grandparents to six. Laurie brings a wealth of experience as a homeschool teacher, personal coach, mentor, and author, while Steve has dedicated over 31 years to running a successful residential remodeling business, Steve Monson Custom Builder, in the Billings area.
Outside of work, Laurie and Steve enjoy activities such as fishing on the Yellowstone River, riding UTV trails, camping, and spending quality time with their family.
Their journey with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) began a little over a year ago, when they were introduced to the organization by a friend. The couple quickly realized that becoming CASA advocates would offer them the chance to make a tangible impact in the life of a child. Inspired by Proverbs 31:8—”Speak out on behalf of the voiceless, and for the rights of all who are vulnerable”—Laurie and Steve chose to advocate for children in need.
They were assigned four wonderful children, ages 2, 4, 5, and 8. Despite the constant changes in their lives, these children have formed strong, trusting bonds with Laurie and Steve, and the couple is a constant source of support for them. As their CASA advocates, Laurie and Steve have helped the children navigate challenges that no child should face, providing a safe, loving presence in their lives.
For Laurie and Steve, their role as CASA advocates has been deeply rewarding, offering them a meaningful way to give back to their community and make a lasting impact on the lives of children. They encourage others to consider becoming involved with CASA of Yellowstone County, where volunteers find a new community and the support they need to make a real difference in the lives of children.
